JANUARY 10th 2009
Annual Picnic & Fox Hunt
Crooked River State Park
St Marys

Bring your family, your appetite, and your RDF gear!

This year's picnic was another great success. The weather couldn't have been better and our dynamic cooking duo, Pete (K4QHR) and Shane (KE4KAK) really put on a feast with low country boil, smoked pulled pork, red beans and rice, and lots more. Another great job guys!

Once the large crowd had filled their bellies, the meeting was brought to order and voting began for our new club officers. When the dust had settled, George WA4GWB was our new President and Adell KI4ODA was our new Treasurer. Many thanks to Tom K4TMN for his work over the last year as President and to Bill KD1Q for all his many years as Treasurer. John WD8LQT will return as Secretary and Glenn W4ULB as Vice President.

After everyone had their fill of all the great food, Tom launched the much anticipated fox hunt. We had more participants this year than ever before, so Tom upped the challenge by making it a two-stage hunt: find the first transmitter to get the frequency for the second. Lots of fun and fresh air was had by all with Andy AA4XS coming in first using his home-brewed "measuring tape yagi". He was awarded a very nice hand held GPS receiver. Thanks Tom for another great hunt!
