Old Business: · From the May 2008 meeting and picnic: Outstanding Smoked Boston Butt and Chicken thanks to Pete K4QHR and Shane KE4KAK! Thanks to both for doing such a great job cooking the meat and also thanks to everyone who came and brought a passing dish. · Field Day Update: — Lowe’s has been verified as the field day location. — Banners – AA4BZ has one banner that he made. The club discussed having some additional banners made by Dalton Signs. Toby KE4JTI motioned that we put a cap on the sign of 250.00 and authorize George WA4GWB to proceed. This motion passed. Thoughts are club logo, some wording identifying the club, and all visitors welcome should be on the sign. George will let Tom K4TMN and John WD8LQT know what is going to happen. — With the purchase of more club owned items (banner), Chuck N4TIS is going to check with Charlie Smith about the possibilities of a 4x8 storage facility. — BBQ – Since Pete was not at the meeting we couldn’t volunteer him to cook but there was discussion about a cook-out on Saturday night. (Update: Pete is not sure he will be available, so Brenda, Glenn's XYL, has volunteered to take over the food purchase and organization duties for this year) — Sign up sheets for blocks of time was discussed so the stations would be on the air at all times. Last year there were numerous people who showed up to operate all at the same time but were not needed. - This idea was nixed but we did announce that if there was anyone who wanted to operate but only had a limited window in which to do so, to let us know and they would be accommodated. — Yellow Tape – George suggested we need some yellow caution tape – If anyone has any, please bring along. Frank said that he had some orange fence available that might work. — Alcohol – Lowes was very specific about no alcohol in the parking lot. — Brochures – Are these in Joe’s garage? Adell contacted him by phone and he does not know where they are located. — Equipment – 1. Generator – 1 generator from Bill Clark KD1Q 2. Club Generator 3. G5RV – Glenn, KD4ULB 4. Loop Antenna – Joe, AA4BZ (is it available?) 5. Kingsland Fire Dept ladder truck – WA7SQD to check this week. 6. Thurston, W6NY – Tuner (CW); Glenn, KD4ULB Tuner (Digital) 7. Two HF radio’s from AE4SS (TS-2000, TS-440) 8. Tom, K4TMN coax feedline. 9. Tom, K4TMN will use his travel trailer. 10. Tim, AE4SS volunteered his trailer also, but someone will have to tow it to the site. 11. Glenn, KD4ULB will bring the equipment for a digital station. 12. Laptops will be needed for logging. Tom, K4TMN can bring one laptop and use the ARRL software. We are in need of one more laptop. — George suggested we need a safety officer – to go down a checklist. George got volunteered. — WA7SQD, Mike will contact the newspapers for articles. The Periscope and Tribune Georgian. He will also invite local officials. — K4TMN, Tom will bring his camera to take pictures for the website and newspaper for publicity reasons. · Saturday 9 am breakfasts at Cracker Barrel continue to go well. Please contact N3EAY on 147.195 prior to 8:45 if you plan to attend so he can get a table big enough for all. · Glenn [KD4ULB] continues to request content for the website. If you have pictures, articles, etc, please forward them to him at . Please include a description of when, where and who. And if you haven't been to the website in a while, be sure to check it out! Lots of new features and information! New Business · WD8LQT is to get a quote on club liability insurance for the club from the ARRL. With the many community events this may be something that could protect us in the case of a law-suit. · Net Control – KI4ODA offered to be controller for the month of June. We continue to be in need of net controllers for the Sunday night net. Who's up for July? · 50/50 drawing was held, Glenn, KD4ULB, won $17 and suddenly discovered how many friends he has in the club. Respectfully submitted WD8LQT, Secretary
