CCARS has always been a big supporter of local Scouting and this year was no exception. The crew met early in the morning of the 20th to get some wire up in the trees before it got too hot, then concentrated on getting the netting up before the evening onslaught of our voracious local 'skeeters. Once those tasks were accomplished, part of the team began the process of setting up transmitters, driving ground stakes, and running coax, while Tim (AA4SS) headed up the BBQ mission. We ended up with two operational HF SSB stations and one Digital HF rig. Band conditions were less than nominal and contacts were, unfortunately, minimal. We did have visits from several groups of scouts over the course of the night who were camping in the park with their troops and a few contacts were made with other JOTA stations. As always, there were also many operators across the country who were scouts as kids or just supported the program that took the time to answer questions and make contacts with the kids
