CCARS received permission from the Georgia Department of Transportation to hold this year's Field Day at the I-95 Georgia Exit 1 Welcome Center. With plenty of covered picnic tables, grills, grassy tree-lined areas, indoor plumbing, easy public access, and virtually no major power lines in the area, the club had a great time again this year.
We had a pretty good group of volunteers Saturday AM for setup. We set up two trailers and various antennas starting about 0830 Saturday morning, and after the usual visits from Murphy, had 3 stations (SSB, CW, and Digital) up and running by 1400 with a GOTA and talk-in 2M station (N6EMA 147.195/t118.8) station soon after. Many hours of fast paced operating were available to all who wished to jump in. As with most years, CW ops were in short supply, but Thurston W6NY rose to the challenge. A fantastic dinner was expertly prepared and served Saturday evening for all in attendance by the XYLs of W4ULB and W6NY, Brenda and Susan. Various strategically placed banners displaying the club's call sign, "Special Event Station", and "Public Welcome" attracted travelers to stop in for a visit
